I'm gonna need this
Yes. I'm gonna need one of these in my house. I would put one of those glass door things in there though AND I would need that window not to be facing my neighbours.

June Book (Shirley, Goodness and Mercy)
This month's book was fun. Chris van Wyk is a brilliant and honest writer. He tells the story of his life; growing up in Riverlea during apartheid. There is so much history in this book and I am thankful for people like Chris van Wyk who share it. There are honestly so many awesome and tragic stories that are still untold in South Africa. I don't wanna give too much away. Just prepare yourself for laughs, even in tragic situations. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I hope you do too. He also includes some of his poetry in the book, which is a bonus.

Music video tings 2
We shot it at the African Music Store on Long Street and it was all fun and games. I don't mind getting dressed up and pretending for a day. There is so much amazing music available at that store. It is a pity that the store was closed, so I couldn't buy anything. But I'm definitely going back to pick up a few Stimela albums and definitely some Femi as well.
I will post the music video as soon as the young minds are done with it... Which should be pretty soon. Yay!!

Music Video Tings
Yes. I used the word 'tings' in the post title. Moving right along.
Last weekend I shot the first part of the music video for a song I released almost a year ago (Butterflies DJ Zinhle remix). A friends little sister is a film school student in 3rd year and she approached me to shoot a music video. Marcee and I are already clear about what music videos we are shooting next, concepts, dates etc. So we thought it would be cool to give them Butterflies (DJ Zinhle remix) to work with. It was the first one of my songs to be playlisted A LOT overseas. It was only 8 countries, but the reception was very good.
Last Saturday was the 'green screen' shoot. I had never done a green screen shoot, so it was very interesting. I had to do a lot of pretending. The idea is that there are butterflies all around me and I'm interacting with them. It made me feel like I always do; crazy. So I suppose it was no different to every day of my life.
The dress is by Lazuli. We spent all morning trying things on and just before we left I tried this one on and Marcee and Bukiwe (stylist) both agreed that it was the ONE. This weekend we shoot the rest of the music video.
I performed Butterflies on Expresso in Feb of this year. Its a very naked, stripped down version of the song.

Way Back When (Davina)
Female singers in the 90s dressed in a way I wished my mother would let me dress. But she wasn't having any of that. I love that Blue outfit with the Blue lipstick.

Say it aint so
I am a CSI and Criminal Intent lover. I especially have a soft spot for CSI Miami. Don't get me wrong; CSI (Las Vegas) will always be THE ONE, but I really enjoy David Caruso's one liners on CSI Miami. I just found out (via Hurricane Vanessa) that CSI Miami has been cancelled. *falls to knees and sobs*
Whhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!
Below areDavid Caruso's finest moments on screen. It is not an episode until he has given a one liner and put his glasses back on. R.I.P CSI Miami

Elephant Shoes
Please let me apologise for starting off this intro with a cliche; Last week I was driving and listening to 'The Fresh Drive'. I don't listen to a lot of radio but if I'm in my car when the Fresh Drive is on, I will almost always tune in. This song came on and something happened inside of me. Its difficult to explain without sounding like a complete lunatic.
Before the chorus came in I was already in love with the melody and the guys sweet unassuming voice. I could tell almost immediately that this is the future of South African music. I didn't want the song to stop but I was also curious as to who this very talented guy was. Ladies and gents allow me to introduce you to Cape Town singer songwriter Mr Jimmy Nevis.I haven't been this excited about a song in a while. I have been singing this song ever since I heard it.

Something new (Vida)
I mentioned in my post yesterday that Marcee and I have decided to make small changes in our lives. One of those things is trying new things. From new restaurants to something bigger like living in a new city. We started yesterday by trying out the brand new Vida in Green Point (Prestwich street).
My love for Vida started in my second year in Cape Town and Marcee became a fan as soon as she landed in the mother city. Being a 2 man record label we spend a lot of time in coffee shops; meeting with other people or just discussing 'internal issues'. Its safe to say the '2 Witches' are coffee shop freaks.
Yay new Vida!!
Porcelain 'Coffee Freak'. Out!

Words (Physics)
Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.

Holiday Needed
I have never been on holiday in my life. I don't mean it in the 'Beyonce takes a year off from her busy schedule' sense. I mean I have never packed my bags and gone somewhere to enjoy the sites etc. Visiting my parents and family in Soweto doesn't count ha haha.
I NEED to GO on HOLIDAY. You hear me universe and Grand Organised Design? I NEED to GO on HOLIDAY!
I thank you.

Awesome!! (Bearded and Black)
The internet is so amazing (THIS is not news). I found an interesting tumblr the other day. As always I was checking out art of kawaii and I ended up there somehow (after 40 mins of aimless browsing). Bearded and Black basically just shares photos of black men with beards. Initially I thought 'oh this doesn't look very interesting'. As you know things don't have to be interesting for you to continue mindless browsing.
I have never thought of myself as a beard girl, but after looking at some of those pictures... I think I might like men with beards. Ooooh lawdy! Have a look at some of the pics from Bearded and Black.
Moment of silence...

April Book (Dr Seuss)
When I told Marcee what my April Book was she laughed. I am not kiddding when I say that 'Oh, The Places You'll Go' is one of my favourite books. I only read it 2 years ago and often revisit it when I am feeling down or need perspective. Once when asked to give a talk to a bunch of really inspirational 'dance for life' contestants, I read bits from the book to make a few points. Its fun to quote the 'great thinkers' of our time but nobody does it better than Dr Seuss.
But on you will go
though the weather be foul.
On you will go
though your enemies prowl.
On you will go though the Hakken-Kraks howl.
Onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore
and your sneakers may leak.
On and on you will hike.
And I know you'll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.
- Dr Seuss (Oh, The Places You'll Go)
Read this book and thank me later ;)

March Book (Tom Sawyer)
I'm just gonna act like I am not almost 2 months behind with my reading and tell you about the March Book. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was a lovely read. I often myself laughing out loud or holding my breathe. The book is about the kind of little boy I suspect I might have been... Had a been born male ha ha. I thoroughly enjoyed Tom Sawyers adventures, his infatuation with the new girl (Becky Thatcher) and even his filthy, pipe smoking friend Huck (I am planning to read his book in about 2 months).
The book was written over a hundred years ago, so I found myself often picking up the dictionary or googling things like 'spunk water'. I was also very surprised at the use of the n-word as well. Besides that, it was a wonderful book. Put it on your list of books to read :)

Runners High
In my last running post I mentioned that my darling Marcee and I were planning to do the Gun Run (10km). Since we ran the 5km a few days ago, we decided that we should start 'training'. So far so good. We run in the evenings on the promenade in Seapoint. Today is day 3 and I think I'm beginning to become addicted to the "runners' high". Maybe its just my imagination, but I feel a thousand times better about everything after running.
I used to run quite often, but stopped because of drama that broke me. The drama made me wanna hide (I did, for a year and a half) Now I'm happier than ever to be running again and training for the Gun Run.
I'm also on Twitter (@BlckPorcelain) and Facebook
