Elephant Shoes
Please let me apologise for starting off this intro with a cliche; Last week I was driving and listening to 'The Fresh Drive'. I don't listen to a lot of radio but if I'm in my car when the Fresh Drive is on, I will almost always tune in. This song came on and something happened inside of me. Its difficult to explain without sounding like a complete lunatic.
Before the chorus came in I was already in love with the melody and the guys sweet unassuming voice. I could tell almost immediately that this is the future of South African music. I didn't want the song to stop but I was also curious as to who this very talented guy was. Ladies and gents allow me to introduce you to Cape Town singer songwriter Mr Jimmy Nevis.I haven't been this excited about a song in a while. I have been singing this song ever since I heard it.

Something new (Vida)
I mentioned in my post yesterday that Marcee and I have decided to make small changes in our lives. One of those things is trying new things. From new restaurants to something bigger like living in a new city. We started yesterday by trying out the brand new Vida in Green Point (Prestwich street).
My love for Vida started in my second year in Cape Town and Marcee became a fan as soon as she landed in the mother city. Being a 2 man record label we spend a lot of time in coffee shops; meeting with other people or just discussing 'internal issues'. Its safe to say the '2 Witches' are coffee shop freaks.
Yay new Vida!!
Porcelain 'Coffee Freak'. Out!

May Book selection
Gosh that 'post title' makes me sound like some important book reviewer or Oprah for that matter. I'm 5 books into the year and still going strong. This month's book is Gem Squash Tokoloshe by Rachel Zodak.
My friend Amanda gave it to me a while ago to read and I had so many other books that I wanted to read. It was the first one that caught my eye when I started looking for a new book to read. So I didnt choose it for any reason other than that.
I'm only 89 pages into the book, so I will share once I'm done reading it.

Awesome!! (Bearded and Black)
The internet is so amazing (THIS is not news). I found an interesting tumblr the other day. As always I was checking out art of kawaii and I ended up there somehow (after 40 mins of aimless browsing). Bearded and Black basically just shares photos of black men with beards. Initially I thought 'oh this doesn't look very interesting'. As you know things don't have to be interesting for you to continue mindless browsing.
I have never thought of myself as a beard girl, but after looking at some of those pictures... I think I might like men with beards. Ooooh lawdy! Have a look at some of the pics from Bearded and Black.
Moment of silence...

I love cake, but....
I love the site Cake Wrecks even more. I used to be a regular a few years ago and then I sort of forgot about. I rediscovered it today when I went to disable comments from my old blog (damn spammers are a nuisance).
Well Marcee and I had a good time with these Super Bowl wrecks. I know nothing about the sport but I thoroughly enjoyed the cake wrecks. They totally cheered me up
I could spend all day just looking at all the cake wrecks. Try it out :)

They WHAT?!
This hangs in the ladies bathroom of one of my favourite restaurants (don't judge me, its a lovely place despite what they hang in the bathrooms). The first time I read it I was like 'women who do WHAT?!'.
Its LOVE folks
So last time it was Lady Killer. I'm happy to say that I am in love again. This time it is with the most unlikely album: Cole World (Sideline Story). I am but a hip hop seedling so sometimes I don't connect with hip hop like most people do. Yesterday while I was working I came across an album that sweet Marcee had. I put it on and I'm finding it hard to listen to anything else. Oh yeaaaah. I'm actually listening to the album right now.

Only A Mother
I heard this song (Only A Mother) late last year and I've wanted to share it on the blog for a while. I don't know why I didn't just go onto Soundcloud *slaps forehead*. I don't believe in describing songs, but I will tell you how it makes me feel. It makes me feel like all my anxiety is evaporating and that I am floating. Weird. But true :)
Its by a band, from England, called Cherry Ghost . Their's is another one of those albums that I NEED to have NOW!

Perfect Timing
Was checking out some of my fav blogs and found this quote:
This is an important lesson to remember when you’re having a bad day, a bad month, or a shitty year. Things will change: you won’t feel this way forever. And anyway, sometimes the hardest lessons to learn are the ones your soul needs most. I believe you can’t feel real joy unless you’ve felt heartache. You can’t have a sense of victory unless you know what it means to fail. You can’t know what it’s like to feel holy until you know what it’s like to feel really fucking evil. And you can’t be birthed again until you’ve died.

Sunday Inspiration
I know that it is already Monday morning, but let's pretend that its still Sunday. I don't just love and write music. It is so much more. Trying to describe it would be pointless. So I'm just going to share some goodness with you.
I first heard this song about months ago. I had no idea who/what Neon Trees was, but after tis song I wanted to get their album. I'm not crazy about this music video, but the song more than makes up for it. Don't say sweet Porcelain never shared good stuff with you ;)
You can also find me on twitter (@BlckPorcelain) and also on Facebook

Great Find: Ella Starr
I have been following her on Twitter, @ella_eh, for a while. Today I finally took sometime to listen to her music. I like this song 'Mirror me'.
07 MIRROR ME by ellastarr
It has that old school SWV, 702 vibe about it. I really like it. Right now everybody is about sounding a euro pop as possible, but Ella Starr isn't. I get the feeling that she knows that R&B still has its place in music. When I first heard it, I thought she was singing about having a crush on another woman: "hair down her back like, buys all her make up at MAC like me..." But that seemed too easy for me. So I listened to it again. I think its a song about her loving herself... Physically. Like Tweet's 'Oops Oh my. I LOVE IT!!
I wrote Nobody Knows a while ago, its on the EP 'Green'. The song encourages men to ask their women what they like because 'nobody knows this body like I do'. I'm all for women loving themselves... Back to Ella.
I'm loving what I'm hearing. Her voice is not difficult to listen to and she sounds like she is not afraid to have fun. You can find out more about her HERE and you can also listen to her mixtape. I love finding new music & new artists.
